What’s it like to work at CHEST?

At CHEST, we welcome healthy debate, we empower one another to become leaders, we cultivate innovation, we promote idea generation, and we celebrate success. In other words, our culture encourages our team members to engage and grow within the organization.

How do we know it’s working? During the past year alone, 25% of the people on our team were promoted and 20% have had their job descriptions revised to accurately reflect their growth within their roles.

We believe in growing the skills of our teams. We encourage professional development through conferences, seminars, and webinars, as well as certificate programs and college-level degrees. We support memberships in professional organizations and offer tuition reimbursement to help employees on their career paths.

CHEST supports holiday charity drives benefiting organizations like Toys for Tots, Northfield Township Food Pantry, Timothy’s Ministry, and Heartland Animal Shelter. Individual teams have voluntarily taken part in additional community service activities of their choice, including Feed My Starving Children, Operation Christmas Child, sponsoring families in need, and more.

Through the CHEST Foundation, we also offer a Lung Health Experience in communities where we host medical conferences. The public is invited to attend and receive a free lung health screening (up to a $100 value) performed by volunteer physicians and clinicians. We have also hosted this event in Chicago’s Daley Plaza. CHEST employees assist with this community service as they desire and are able.

To recognize everyone’s contribution to the work of CHEST, we make time for appreciation events. We have a yearly summer event and a holiday party where employees can gather with their work friends outside the office. “Busy Breaks” are scheduled throughout the year, so employees can take a short break from their work to clear their minds, stretch their legs, and enjoy snacks and refreshments.

“I've worked with basically every department at CHEST, and across all my interactions is a shared desire to cultivate a supportive, reasonable, and genuinely warm culture. Too many institutions lean on those words in a hollow way, but here it's very real. It’s easy to share a laugh or find a helping hand in literally any direction on the org chart.”

– David Gal, Team Member since 2019
